By popular demand, East Garston’s Winter Festival, Asgar’s Wassail, will be back on Saturday 16th January 2027 at Manor Farm Orchard and “The Inn”.
Come join this ancient tradition of blessing apple trees for a bountiful harvest.
Join in the singing, dancing and toasting the trees with cider and sampling wassail cake. Bring bells, whistles, old pots and pans to make a noise to ward off the evil spirits.
Last year the only tree to bear a significant harvest was our Wassail Tree, so we need to work harder, the more the merrier.
Afterwards back at the “Inn” (The Social Club and Priscilla’s Kitchen)
There will be more singing, dancing, good ale, cider and seasonal fare.
And once again we hope there will be a stunning performance of the East Garston Mummers Play.
We hope to see you there but even more we would love you to be directly involved by either volunteering to help produce the event or perform in the Mummers Play.
All you need is a sense of fun and community spirit. We need stewards, cider and cake servers and budding thespians, no experience necessary – just look the video from last year!!!
Volunteers will be part of the event so you won’t miss anything and actors will be required for rehearsals for just an hour a week during December and early January.
